Mojeek's software has been developed entirely from scratch in house using the C programming language, and uses no pre-existing search technology nor databases of any kind. The engine itself is highly-scalable in both terms of index size and the rate in which it can be refreshed. All technology and IP is fully owned by Mojeek Limited.
The day-to-day running and development is still the full responsibility of its founder Marc Smith, who first created Mojeek as a personal project. Although, this wouldn't of been possible without the help of friends and family, a single seed investor and more recently its first major angel investment (21/03/2013).
